Introductions…

Hello! I’m a 29 year old, Los Angeles based new wife, with lots of free time. I’m writing this blog for a different kind of DIY bride. For a bride that’s not so twee, and much more chic. There’s nothing wrong with beige preciousness, I just think there’s MORE right with magnetic glamour.

I hated, hated, hated the stress of planning our wedding. But, I loved the creative and design aspects that went into pulling the whole thing off. I don’t live in the same state as my mom and sisters, and I live 100 miles away from my bridesmaids. Everyone helped where they could, but I ended up doing a lot of things on my own. We ran into many bumps and setbacks along the way. What had originally started out as an eight month engagement, ended up being a little over a year. Venues were changed, the date was changed, my shoes were changed (four times), there was a lot of trial and error. I had a vision for an extremely cool and interesting wedding, but the budget for something decidedly lower rent. We managed to pull of a truly amazing and unique wedding for a little more than $10,000. I want to pass on the tips and tricks I learned. There’s no use letting them go to waste! So much goes into a wedding, it can be very overwhelming. People ask a lot of questions you don’t know the answers to, and they expect a lot of things from you that just might not be able to deliver. Don’t fret, my pet. I’m here now. It’s going to be alright…we’ll get through this together. And you’ll have your own brilliant wedding that all your friends will be jealous of.

P.S. When I said there was nothing wrong with beige preciousness, that was a lie. There’s a lot wrong with it. I was just trying to be nice. Oh, well. There’s always next time.
